How do you stop a cat from climbing and getting stuck in the same tree over and over again?
I am too old to climb into trees after cats and my kids are at school in the day. One of my two cats finds herself stuck in the trees in my garden at least once a day. Why does she keep doing this and how do I stop this behavior?

IF you let her up there, will she find her way down? I suspect she’s climbing the tree because its fun, plus she probably likes been rescued.
A simple solution would be to put a ring of chicken wire around the tree. That way, she can’t climb it.

Cats love climbing. Being so small, they like being up high, because it gives them a good view of their territory, so that they can keep an eye out for intruders or prey. The curve of their claws however, makes climbing upwards much easier than descending, which is why they sometimes find themselves stuck. Most cats do eventually come down in their own time.
You could fit squirrel baffels or spiked belts around the tree, so that your cats wouldn’t be able to climb higher than a certain point. You could even use mesh chicken wire to make a fan around the tree.
